The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles contacted me about an upcoming project where two Larry Bell sculptures were to be installed outside on the upper courtyard. In order to visualize the installation and decide on final placements, a 3d model of the buildings, courtyard, and sculptures were needed.
After a site visit to take reference photos and measurements, I brought those back to my studio to build MOCA in SketchUp. Working with the curators, scenes directly from SketchUp were sent in order to finalize the placement of the Larry Bell sculptures on the courtyard.
Taking this a step further, I imported the SketchUp model into Cinema 4d where I could animate the elements of the sculptures to reveal the installation. Lighting, texturing, and rendering using Redshift allowed me to elevate the final delivery beyond the expected low resolution imagery directly out of SketchUp.
